How It Started
Lead Docket was created in a personal injury law firm in West Virginia. We started off using paper intake forms to manage all incoming leads. This was very disorganized because these forms would get mixed up with other important documents and these leads would become lost (literally).
Once this was an apparent issue, we switched to pink colored paper to manage the incoming leads, this way it would be more obvious which sheets were leads. Even though this helped a little, leads were still “slipping through the cracks” and our marketing dollars were being wasted.
We then tried using intake screens in our case management system but quickly realized that case management systems are not designed for client acquisition and it still resulted in staff having to remember to follow up with leads. Finally, we explored the various commercially available CRM programs but were discouraged by their complexity.
Eventually, we developed our own intake management system that was focused on simplicity and a straightforward and consistent process for every lead. After implementing the system, we increased our number of signed up leads by 30% two years in a row with the same marketing budget. Once it became obvious that this system was benefiting the firm greatly, we decided to share our software with other firms who want to reap the same benefits and Lead Docket was born. Since then, we helped dozens of firms improve their intake and increase profits.
